VisitEU Sanctions Iran Over Missiles, UAVs, and Ports Used to Support Russia
Nov 18, 2024, 09:55 AM
The European Union has imposed new sanctions on Iran, targeting its military support for Russia's war in Ukraine. These measures include a prohibition on the export of components used in the development of missiles and UAVs, and a transaction ban with Iranian ports. The Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) and its director Mohammad Reza Khiabani have also been sanctioned. Iran's Foreign Minister has criticized these EU sanctions, arguing that there is no legal, logical, or moral basis for them, as Iran has not supplied Russia with ballistic missiles. German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has stated that the EU is preparing further sanctions against Iran and is also examining Chinese drone support.
