The Commission is demanding access to internal documents related to X's recommendation algorithms, moderation practices, and specific programming interfaces. This includes a request for the company to freeze and store relevant data and to provide the documentation by February 15, 2025. The investigation aims to determine whether X is in breach of the EU's Digital Services Act (DSA) by allowing the spread of disinformation, manipulating public discourse, and potentially boosting far-right content. The move follows recent provocations and repeated attacks by Elon Musk on European governments, as well as complaints from German politicians about political meddling.
