VisitESPN Sublicenses 13 Football, 15 Basketball Big 12 Games to Warner Bros. Discovery for $2.28 Billion Starting 2025
Nov 18, 2024, 05:02 PM
ESPN has agreed to sublicense a selection of Big 12 Conference college football and basketball games to Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD), allowing the games to be aired on TNT and the Max streaming service. This deal, which will take effect in 2025, includes 13 football games and 15 men's basketball games each season, marking a shift from ESPN's streaming platform to linear television. The agreement is part of the broader media rights settlement involving WBD and the NBA, and it will last for six years, coinciding with the Big 12's $2.28 billion package with ESPN and Fox. The transition is expected to increase the visibility of Big 12 games on network television, as TNT and TBS will now broadcast these events, enhancing WBD's portfolio in college sports alongside its existing rights to Mountain West and College Football Playoff games.
