The New York State Gaming Commission has unanimously approved PENN Interactive's acquisition of Wynn Interactive, paving the way for ESPN Bet to launch in New York. PENN Executive Vice President Chris Rodgers indicated that the app could soft-launch before the upcoming weekend. This approval marks the final piece needed for ESPN Bet's entry into the New York market. The commission also granted PENN Entertainment a digital wagering license. The platform aims to capitalize on the burgeoning sports betting industry, which the American Gaming Association expects to see $35 billion in bets on NFL games in 2024. ESPN Bet's launch is timely, coinciding with Week 4 of the NFL season.
