An escaped inmate from Mississippi, wanted on murder and armed robbery charges, was involved in a standoff with police at a restaurant on Chicago's Near West Side, near the United Center. The incident occurred just blocks away from the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday. The U.S. Marshals Service and local police were involved in the operation. The suspect had previously escaped from a courthouse in Mississippi and was also connected to a Chicago homicide. The standoff concluded with the suspect being taken into custody.
