VisitEPA Announces $900 Million for 3,400 Electric School Buses in 47 States
May 29, 2024, 05:50 PM
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced nearly $900 million in funding to support the purchase of over 3,400 clean school buses across 530 school districts in 47 states. This initiative, a key component of the Biden administration’s environmental agenda, aims to replace aging, gas-fueled buses with zero-emission electric models, with 92% of the new buses being electric. The investment is expected to improve air quality, reduce pollution, and create good-paying manufacturing jobs. The funding, part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and aligned with the Green New Deal, will benefit numerous states, including Massachusetts, Illinois, and Colorado, enhancing the health and safety of students and communities.
