Elon Musk's social media platform, X, has collaborated with U.S. senators, including Marsha Blackburn and Richard Blumenthal, to revise the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA). The bipartisan legislation aims to enhance online safety for minors by holding platforms accountable for harmful content while ensuring that free speech is protected. Linda Yaccarino, CEO of X, emphasized that the updated bill strengthens safeguards against bullying and exploitation without infringing on expression. The revisions come as KOSA is positioned for a final push for passage in the Republican-led House before the end of the year. Both Blackburn and Blumenthal have highlighted that these changes should dispel concerns that the bill could be misused to limit free speech online.
