VisitElon Musk's X Complies with Brazil's Supreme Court Demands, Names Legal Representative
Sep 21, 2024, 08:29 PM
Elon Musk’s social network, X, has complied with demands from Brazil’s Supreme Court, potentially paving the way for the platform to return to the country. In a court filing on Friday night, X appointed Rachel de Oliveira Villa Nova as its legal representative in Brazil, fulfilling one of the court's requirements. This move follows a 24-hour deadline set by Supreme Court Minister Alexandre de Moraes. X also agreed to remove certain accounts and pay fines, actions Musk had previously resisted. Despite these steps, the court has requested additional documentation to validate X's compliance. The platform had closed its offices in Brazil in mid-August, leading to the current legal dispute.
