Elon Musk's SpaceX Plans Starbase Town in Texas, First for Any Company, Gunnar Milburn as Mayor

Elon Musk's SpaceX is moving forward with plans to establish a new town named Starbase in coastal South Texas, where the company's rocket launch facilities are located. SpaceX employees have submitted a petition to Cameron County to hold an election for the incorporation of Starbase, which would be a first for any company or business leader globally. The proposed town would cover about 1.5 square miles and house a community of approximately 500 residents, including 219 primary residents and over 100 children, most of whom are SpaceX employees and renters. The town would be located near Boca Chica Beach. The town's first mayor is expected to be Gunnar Milburn, SpaceX's security manager. Starbase, if established, would have its own police and fire departments and could enact its own ordinances. This development follows Musk's shift of company operations from California to Texas.
