VisitElon Musk Reveals Optimus as Largest AI Data Source, Cortex Supercomputer with 100,000 Chips to Boost FSD
Aug 3, 2024, 03:58 PM
Elon Musk has revealed that the Optimus robot will be the largest source of data for artificial intelligence, emphasizing its ability to scale to the size of reality. According to Musk, there could be hundreds of millions, or even billions, of Optimus robots learning from real-world interactions. This data will be crucial for AI development. Musk noted on the Lex Fridman Podcast that it is humbling to see how little data humans have been able to accumulate. Additionally, Tesla's Giga Texas supercomputer cluster, named Cortex, will house approximately 100,000 H100/H200 chips and will support video training for Full Self-Driving (FSD) and Optimus. The Cortex cluster is expected to be a multi-billion dollar project, significantly advancing FSD technology. Musk praised the Tesla team for their work on this project.
