VisitElon Musk Ordered to Philadelphia Court Over $1 Million Voter Giveaway Lawsuit
Oct 31, 2024, 05:52 AM
Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner has filed a lawsuit against Elon Musk and his political action committee, America PAC, seeking to halt a $1 million-a-day giveaway to registered voters in Pennsylvania and other swing states. Krasner alleges that the giveaways constitute an illegal lottery under Pennsylvania law and are an attempt to influence voters ahead of the November 5, 2024, presidential election, in which Musk supports Donald Trump's campaign. Judge Angelo Foglietta has ordered Musk to attend an emergency court hearing on Thursday morning to address the lawsuit. The hearing was accelerated and relocated after Krasner reported receiving antisemitic messages and threats following the filing of the lawsuit. Krasner has requested enhanced security at the hearing due to concerns over threats of political violence. Musk's legal team is attempting to move the case to federal court, potentially averting his required appearance.
