May 19, 2024, 09:42 PM
Elon Musk and SpaceX have officially launched Starlink's Internet service in Indonesia, aiming to improve connectivity, particularly in remote areas. The launch was marked by an event in Bali, attended by Musk and several Indonesian ministers, including the Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, during the 10th World Water Forum. The service is expected to benefit millions of Indonesians, including 2,700 community health centers that previously struggled with internet access. Musk emphasized the importance of internet connectivity for education and economic opportunities, noting that 37% of the global population still lacks internet access. Additionally, Musk is considering building an electric vehicle battery plant in Indonesia, following discussions with Indonesian officials, including President Joko Widodo. SpaceX now has over 5,000 Starlink satellites in orbit.
