Elon Musk has announced that X, formerly known as Twitter, will start charging new users a small annual fee of $1 to access posting, liking, bookmarking, and replying features. This measure, part of the 'Not A Bot' program tested in New Zealand and the Philippines, is introduced as a strategy to combat the proliferation of bots on the platform. Musk emphasized that this fee is essential to curb the 'relentless onslaught of bots' that have been affecting the platform. New users will still be able to follow accounts and browse content without any charge.
