VisitEli Lilly Files Six More Lawsuits on Thursday Against Counterfeit Mounjaro, Zepbound Sellers
Jun 20, 2024, 05:05 PM
US drugmaker Eli Lilly has intensified its legal actions against counterfeit versions of its popular diabetes and weight-loss medications, Mounjaro and Zepbound. On Thursday, the company filed six additional lawsuits targeting medical spas, wellness centers, and other entities for selling products falsely claiming to contain tirzepatide, the active ingredient in these drugs. In an open letter, Eli Lilly warned the public about the dangers of fake and compounded versions of these medications, emphasizing the health risks associated with unapproved products and deceptive advertising. The company alleged that these entities falsely claimed FDA approval for their compounded versions. The World Health Organization (WHO) has also issued warnings about counterfeit versions of weight-loss drugs, urging consumers to be cautious.
