Artificial Agency, an Edmonton-based AI startup, has raised US$16-million (17 million CAD) to develop a generative AI gaming engine aimed at making non-playable characters (NPCs) in video games feel more realistic. The funding round was led by Radical Ventures, Toyota Ventures, Flying Fish Partners, and BDC Capital. The company, which emerged from stealth, is pioneering generative behavior for gaming and is composed of former researchers from Google DeepMind.
