Sep 5, 2024, 03:45 AM
The Democratic Republic of Congo received its first delivery of mpox vaccine doses on Thursday in the capital, with a second delivery expected on Saturday. The initial shipment, consisting of almost 100,000 doses, was delivered by cargo plane and donated by the European Union's Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Authority. The country's health ministry plans to begin deploying the vaccines this weekend to combat the ongoing mpox outbreak, which has been declared a global public health emergency by the World Health Organization. An additional 101,000 doses are expected to arrive by the end of the week.
