Dow Jones, the parent company of the Wall Street Journal, and the New York Post have filed a lawsuit against Perplexity AI, alleging copyright infringement. The lawsuit claims that the AI startup engages in a 'massive amount of illegal copying' of their copyrighted work. The court filing underscores the media companies' efforts to protect their intellectual property against unauthorized use by generative AI technologies. CEO Robert Thomson of Dow Jones has issued a statement regarding the lawsuit. NYP Holdings, owned by Rupert Murdoch, is also involved in the lawsuit.
