VisitDoorbell Video Shows Two Posing as Utility Workers Murder 72-Year-Old Michigan Man; Both Arrested
Oct 14, 2024, 12:15 PM
Two men posing as utility workers allegedly murdered a 72-year-old jewelry store owner in his upscale Rochester Hills, Michigan home. On Friday, shortly before noon, the suspects, described as a heavy-set Hispanic man and a thin Black man wearing high-visibility vests and captured on doorbell video, claimed to be DTE Energy workers checking for gas leaks to gain entry. Once inside, they duct-taped the man's wife and searched the home for about 20 minutes before killing him in the basement. Authorities launched a manhunt for the suspects, and by October 14, both men had been arrested, with one apprehended in Louisiana and charged with murder. The Oakland County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident, raising concerns about imposters posing as utility workers to commit violent crimes.
