VisitDolphins' Tyreek Hill and Calais Campbell Detained by Police for Reckless Driving Before Season Opener
Sep 8, 2024, 03:43 PM
Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill was detained by police on the morning of the team's season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Hill was pulled over for speeding and cited for reckless driving. A verbal altercation with the police led to Hill being handcuffed and briefly detained. Despite the incident, Hill was released and played in the game. Dolphins defensive lineman Calais Campbell was also detained while attempting to deescalate the situation. The Miami-Dade Police Department has placed one of the officers involved on administrative leave pending an investigation. Hill's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, described the police actions as 'completely unnecessary' and 'mind-boggling.' Hill later scored a touchdown in the game and celebrated by mimicking being in handcuffs.
