In a crucial Week 16 matchup, the Miami Dolphins defeated the San Francisco 49ers 29-17 at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday, keeping their playoff hopes alive. Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa completed 22 of 34 passes for 215 yards and one touchdown, becoming the fourth quarterback in franchise history to reach 100 career touchdown passes. Tagovailoa is also aiming to become the first quarterback to top 70 percent completion rate in nine straight games, surpassing Joe Montana and Drew Brees. Running back De'Von Achane delivered a standout performance, rushing for a season-high 121 yards on 17 carries, including a game-sealing 50-yard touchdown run. Achane also caught six passes for 70 yards and broke the Dolphins' franchise record for receptions by a running back in a season with his 76th catch, surpassing Terry Kirby. Kicker Jason Sanders contributed significantly by nailing five field goals. The win improves the Dolphins' record to 7-8, keeping them in the hunt for an AFC playoff spot. The loss eliminates the 49ers from playoff contention. Coach Mike McDaniel praised his team's resilience, stating, "We live to fight another day."
