The Department of Energy (DoE) has awarded contracts to six companies, including BWXT's Nuclear Fuel Services subsidiary, for deconversion services to turn high-assay low-enriched uranium (HALEU) into metal or oxide forms. These forms can then be made into fuel for advanced reactors. The contract awarded to BWXT is an indefinite-delivery contract. Additionally, the DoE has issued a draft environmental assessment to analyze the potential impacts of operating the DOME test bed at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL). The collaboration between U.S. and UK researchers, including NNUF_UK, aims to create test capsules for advanced reactor materials testing.
