Jan 7, 2025, 08:51 PM
Disney+ has ordered a pilot for a TV series based on the novel 'Holes' by Louis Sachar. The series will be a gender-swapped reimagining of the story, featuring a teenage girl sent to a detention camp where the campers are forced to dig holes for a mysterious purpose. The project is being produced by Walden Media, with Alina Mankin serving as writer and executive producer, and Liz Phang as showrunner and executive producer. Drew Goddard will executive produce via Goddard Textiles along with Sarah Esberg. The series is a departure from the 2003 film adaptation, which starred Shia LaBeouf and was also produced by Walden Media. 20th Television is the studio behind the project.
