Disney Forms Tech Unit Led by CTO Jamie Voris to Oversee AI and XR

Walt Disney Company has established a new business unit, the Office of Technology Enablement, to coordinate its use of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and extended reality (XR) across its film, television, and theme park divisions. The unit will be led by Jamie Voris, Disney Studios' Chief Technology Officer, who has been instrumental in developing Disney's applications for platforms like the Apple Vision Pro. The team is expected to grow to over 100 employees. This initiative aims to align emerging technology projects with the company's overall strategy and to explore opportunities and risks associated with AI and other next-generation technologies in a "responsible" manner. Disney seeks to enhance the entertainment experience and redefine storytelling through the integration of AI and mixed reality.
