Jan 6, 2025, 02:56 AM
Film director Jeff Baena, husband of actress Aubrey Plaza, has died at the age of 47. Baena was known for writing and directing indie films and TV shows, including 'The Little Hours' and 'Life After Beth.' His death was confirmed on January 4, 2025, and a medical examiner ruled it a suicide. Aubrey Plaza was seen attending an NBA game with comedian Jerrod Carmichael two days before his death and was scheduled to present at the Golden Globes but skipped the ceremony following the news. Colleagues Molly Shannon, Adam Pally, and Alison Brie shared touching tributes to Baena. At the 2025 Golden Globes, director Brady Corbet dedicated his Best Director award for 'The Brutalist' to Baena's memory, offering condolences to Plaza and Baena's family. The film 'The Brutalist' won multiple awards, including Best Motion Picture – Drama, and actor Adrien Brody won Best Actor for his role in the film.
