No. 1 Oregon secured a decisive 38-9 victory over No. 20 Illinois, improving their record to 8-0 overall and 5-0 in the Big Ten. Quarterback Dillon Gabriel had an outstanding performance, throwing for three touchdowns and rushing for another, totaling four touchdowns. Gabriel amassed 100 passing yards and two touchdowns less than nine minutes into the game and led the Ducks to a commanding 14-0 lead less than six minutes into the first quarter. He moved past Kellen Moore to become second in NCAA career passing touchdowns with 143, trailing only Case Keenum, and also moved to No. 2 in NCAA career passing yards during the game.
