Dec 9, 2024, 12:38 AM
Dick Allen, the late American League MVP in 1972 with the Chicago White Sox, and Dave Parker, a standout player for the Pittsburgh Pirates, have been elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame by the Classic Baseball Era Committee. The announcement was made on Sunday evening in Dallas, where the committee met to vote on eight candidates for the Class of 2025. Allen, who also played for the Philadelphia Phillies, was a seven-time All-Star and is celebrated for his powerful hitting and impact on the game. Parker, known as 'The Cobra,' had a notable career including a stint with the Milwaukee Brewers in 1990, making him the eighth Hall of Fame player who appeared for the Brewers. The voting results showed Parker receiving 14 votes and Allen 13, with 12 votes needed for induction. Other candidates like Tommy John (7 votes), Ken Boyer, John Donaldson, Steve Garvey, Vic Harris, and Luis Tiant did not receive enough votes for induction.
