VisitDibrugarh Express Derails in UP's Gonda, 2 Dead and 25 Injured

A major train derailment occurred in Uttar Pradesh's Gonda district involving the Dibrugarh Express (train number 15904) traveling from Chandigarh to Dibrugarh. The incident took place around 2:35 pm near the Jhilahi halt in the Gonda-Mankapur section. Approximately 10 coaches derailed, with some reports indicating up to 15 bogies affected. Initial reports suggested no casualties, but later updates confirmed at least two deaths and around 25 injuries. Rescue operations are underway, with railway officials, local administration, and medical teams present at the site. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to expedite rescue operations and ensure proper treatment for the injured. Helpline numbers have been issued by the North Eastern Railway for affected passengers and their families. Pankaj Singh, CPRO of North Eastern Railway, stated that 4-5 coaches had overturned. Walter Adeeb reported that the priority is to assist those injured.
