VisitDetroit's Population Grows by 1,852 Residents, Now 26th Most Populous City in U.S.
May 16, 2024, 11:30 AM
Detroit's population has grown for the first time since 1957, according to new estimates released by the U.S. Census Bureau. The city's population increased by 1,852 residents, rising from 631,366 to 633,218 between July 1, 2022, and July 1, 2023. This growth marks a significant milestone for Detroit, which has experienced decades of decline. Despite this positive change, the South continues to dominate overall U.S. population growth. Detroit is now the 26th most populous city in the U.S., and other Northeast and Midwest cities are also seeing slight rebounds.
