The change comes after a disappointing start to the season, with the team holding a record of 13-17-4 and currently seventh in the Atlantic Division. The Red Wings have been on a three-game losing streak and have lost nine of their past 12 games. Lalonde, who had been with the team for nearly three seasons, led the Red Wings to an 89-86-23 record.
