VisitDeshaun Watson Suffers Apparent Achilles Rupture; Dorian Thompson-Robinson Takes Over at QB
Oct 20, 2024, 06:20 PM
During the game against the Cincinnati Bengals on October 20, 2024, Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson suffered a non-contact right Achilles tendon injury with 1:22 left in the first half. The injury occurred on a quarterback draw play where his right leg appeared to buckle without contact, and video footage showed a telltale calf reverberation indicative of an Achilles rupture. Medical staff quickly attended to Watson, and the cart was brought onto the field. The entire Browns team came out as Watson, visibly emotional and in tears, was placed on the cart and taken off the field. Initial assessments, including video analysis by Pro Football Doc, suggest that Watson ruptured his right Achilles tendon, which would require surgery and end his season. Backup quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson (DTR) replaced Watson in the game. The injury is a significant blow to the Browns' season.
