VisitDenis Goltsov Wins 2024 PFL Heavyweight Title, $1 Million Prize, Ends Popov's Streak
Nov 29, 2024, 06:37 PM
Denis Goltsov claimed the 2024 PFL Heavyweight Championship with a first-round submission victory over Oleg Popov at the PFL World Championship in Riyadh. Goltsov executed a rare triangle choke from the bottom position at 2:55 of the opening round to secure the title and a $1 million prize. This victory ended Popov's 17-fight winning streak and marked Goltsov's first PFL heavyweight tournament championship after five attempts. Goltsov's professional record now stands at 36-8, while Popov's drops to 19-2. Popov had earlier attempted a takedown before Goltsov locked in the submission. Following his win, Goltsov called for a potential superfight against Francis Ngannou in 2025. #PFLWorldChampionship
