VisitDelta Air Lines Struggles to Recover from CrowdStrike IT Outage, Cancels 700 Flights on Monday
Jul 22, 2024, 06:11 PM
Delta Air Lines continues to grapple with the aftermath of a global IT outage caused by a faulty software update from CrowdStrike, resulting in widespread flight cancellations. The outage, which began on Friday, has led to the cancellation of over 5,000 flights globally, with Delta being the most affected airline. Despite other airlines resuming normal operations, Delta canceled nearly 700 flights on Monday alone and expects more cancellations throughout the week. Delta canceled over 4,600 flights from Friday to Sunday, according to FlightAware. Delta's CEO, Ed Bastian, has apologized to customers and offered frequent flyer miles as compensation. The airline's struggle to restore operations has left thousands of passengers stranded and has drawn the attention of federal authorities.
