Jun 28, 2024, 11:01 AM
Heavy rainfall in Delhi has led to significant waterlogging across the city, with 228 mm of rain recorded in the last 24 hours. The Delhi government, including Water Minister Atishi, Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj, and Minister Gopal Rai, held an emergency meeting to address the situation. Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi inspected waterlogged areas, including Mathura Road in Jangpura, and assured that teams would arrive soon to manage the crisis. The Lieutenant Governor has directed officials to set up an emergency control room. Residences of prominent figures such as Shashi Tharoor and Atishi have been affected, with Tharoor's house submerged under a foot of water. Atishi noted that 200 hotspots have been identified, with 40 under CCTV surveillance. The government has issued helpline numbers to assist citizens affected by the flooding, and Chief Secretaries have been instructed to review the list of vulnerable areas.
