VisitDelhi Minister Atishi Hospitalized on June 25 as Hunger Strike Over Water Crisis Ends
Jun 25, 2024, 02:17 AM
Delhi Water Minister Atishi has been hospitalized after her health deteriorated during an indefinite hunger strike over the city's water crisis. Atishi began her hunger strike on June 21, accusing the Haryana government of not releasing Delhi's rightful share of water from the Hathnikund Barrage. Her health worsened on June 24, the fourth day of the strike, with blood sugar levels dropping significantly. Despite doctors' advice to end the strike and be admitted to the hospital, Atishi initially refused but was eventually taken to LNJP Hospital on June 25. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has stated that the hunger strike was a protest against Haryana providing 100 million gallons less water daily for the past three weeks, affecting 28 lakh Delhiites. AAP MP Sanjay Singh confirmed that the hunger strike has ended following Atishi's hospitalization.
