Sep 9, 2024, 08:48 AM
The Delhi government, led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, has announced a comprehensive 21-point Winter Action Plan to combat air pollution in the city. As part of the plan, Environment Minister Gopal Rai stated that the production, storage, sale, and use of firecrackers, including green crackers, will be banned until January 1. The ban also extends to online sale and delivery of firecrackers. The government has implemented measures such as artificial rain, work-from-home policies, and the odd-even vehicle scheme to reduce pollution levels during the winter season. Different departments have been assigned responsibilities to tackle this issue. The ban on firecrackers aims to control the rise in pollution levels during the winter season and improve air quality in the capital.
