VisitDelhi Bans Firecrackers Until 2025 Under Winter Action Plan to Combat Pollution
Oct 14, 2024, 07:35 AM
The Delhi government has imposed a comprehensive ban on the production, storage, sale, and use of all kinds of firecrackers across the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi, effective immediately until January 1, 2025. The Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) and the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) announced the ban, which includes prohibitions on manufacturing, storing, and selling firecrackers, including delivery through online marketing platforms. Environment Minister Gopal Rai stated that the measure is part of the government's 21-point Winter Action Plan 2024 to combat the anticipated rise in air pollution during the winter months. "This decision aims to reduce pollution levels and protect public health," Rai said. Residents are urged to cooperate with the directives to improve air quality in the city.
