The death toll from a batch of toxic, illegal alcohol in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu has risen to 54. The victims were sickened by drinking a bootleg brew with a high content of methanol. The tragedy has resulted in more victims succumbing to the poisonous brew while in hospital, and the toll is likely to rise.
