VisitDanny Jansen Makes MLB History with Blue Jays and Red Sox in Same Game
Aug 26, 2024, 05:46 PM
Danny Jansen made Major League Baseball history by becoming the first player to appear in the same game for both teams. Originally a catcher for the Toronto Blue Jays, Jansen was traded to the Boston Red Sox after a June 26 game against the Red Sox was suspended due to rain. When the game resumed on August 26 at Fenway Park, Jansen played as a catcher for the Red Sox, completing an unprecedented feat in MLB history. The game, which was scoreless at the time of suspension, ended with the Blue Jays winning 4-1. Jansen caught for Nick Pivetta and struck out against Chad Green. His unique participation in the game has been recognized by the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
