VisitDallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia Retires, Takes Austin Public Safety Role

Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia is retiring from law enforcement after 3.5 years at the helm. Garcia plans to leave Dallas by the end of this year and will take on a new role as the Assistant City Manager of Public Safety in Austin. He will oversee Austin's public safety under former Dallas City Manager T.C. Broadnax. Garcia informed city officials on Thursday, and a memo was sent to the Austin city council.
