VisitD.C. Court Permanently Disbars Rudy Giuliani Over Baseless Election Fraud Claims
Sep 26, 2024, 04:49 PM
Rudy Giuliani, the former New York City Mayor and ex-lawyer to former President Donald Trump, has been permanently disbarred in Washington, D.C., according to an order by the D.C. Court of Appeals. The disbarment is a reciprocal discipline after Giuliani lost his law license in New York in July. The court noted that Giuliani did not respond to a show cause order regarding his license. The decision comes as a result of Giuliani's efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election, during which he made baseless claims of election fraud. The court found his allegations to be "utterly false" and "recklessly so," violating professional conduct rules.
