VisitCrowdStrike IT Outage Causes Major Flight Disruptions, Delta Cancels 1,000 Flights
Jul 21, 2024, 09:25 PM
A global IT outage caused by CrowdStrike has led to significant disruptions in the air travel industry, with thousands of flights being canceled and delayed. The outage, which began last week, has affected numerous airlines, including Delta Air Lines and United Airlines. Delta Air Lines, in particular, has struggled to restore normal operations, canceling about 1,000 flights on top of the 3,500 it had already scrapped. The disruptions continued through the weekend and into the following week, with more than 1,000 US flights canceled for the third consecutive day. On Saturday and Sunday, dozens more flights were canceled across the UK. The ongoing issues have left thousands of passengers facing fresh cancellations and delays.
