VisitCraig Wright Referred to UK Prosecutors for Alleged Perjury and Forgery
Jul 16, 2024, 03:07 PM
Craig Wright, an Australian computer scientist who has long claimed to be the creator of Bitcoin under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto, has been referred to the UK's Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for potential perjury and forgery charges. A London High Court judge, James Mellor, found that Wright lied extensively and repeatedly during a trial initiated by the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA). The court ruled that Wright must publish a notice on his website, Twitter, and Slack for six months, stating that he is not Satoshi Nakamoto. The CPS will decide whether to prosecute Wright, which could lead to arrest warrants and extradition requests. Wright's false claims have been a subject of controversy for years, and this ruling marks a significant development in the ongoing legal battles surrounding his assertions. Stefan Matthews is also referred for prosecution. Wright's lies included forged documents and other courtroom lies.
