The Dallas Cowboys have released running back Ezekiel Elliott, marking the end of his second tenure with the team. Elliott, who requested the release, aims to join a playoff contender. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones expressed respect and appreciation for Elliott, stating the release was to provide him an opportunity to pursue playoff participation. Elliott, who returned to the Cowboys this season after a stint with the New England Patriots, played in 15 games, rushing for 226 yards and three touchdowns on 74 carries, averaging a career-low 3.1 yards per carry.
