VisitCOVID-19 Cases Surge Among Athletes at 2024 Paris Olympics Amid Lack of Testing Requirements
Aug 8, 2024, 02:03 PM
At least 40 athletes competing at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last two weeks. The World Health Organization (WHO) has urged governments to strengthen their approach to managing the spread of COVID-19, as infections among Olympic athletes are not surprising amid a global rise in cases. Despite the uptick in infections, there are no testing or isolation requirements in place at the Olympics, and athletes who test positive are still allowed to compete. This has raised concerns about the effectiveness of the current health protocols at the event.
