VisitContainer Ship Dali Refloated and Moved After Eight Weeks Following Francis Scott Key Bridge Collapse
May 20, 2024, 11:27 AM
The container ship Dali, which caused the deadly collapse of Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge in March, has been successfully refloated and is being moved back to port. The refloating operation began on Monday and involved five tugboats assisting the ship at high tide. The 948-foot-long vessel, which had been stuck at the crash site for nearly eight weeks, is now en route to a nearby marine terminal. The move is a significant step towards reopening access to the Port of Baltimore. The ship's 22 crew members, who have remained on board since the crash, will also be relocated. At the marine terminal, the remainder of the debris on the bow will be removed, and all containers will be offloaded.
