VisitConservatives Pledge £1 Billion for New GP Surgeries, Modernisation, and Diagnostic Centres
Jun 2, 2024, 08:21 AM
The Conservative Party has pledged a significant overhaul of the NHS, promising to fund £1 billion annually to build 100 new GP surgeries, modernise 150 more, and build 50 new diagnostic centres if they win the upcoming election. This plan aims to increase the number of GP appointments by 20 million by the end of the next parliament. The funding will come from reducing the number of NHS managers to pre-pandemic levels. Additionally, the Tories plan to expand the Pharmacy First scheme, allowing pharmacists to treat more conditions, such as chest infections and acne, without a GP visit.
