Jan 19, 2025, 02:43 AM
Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels delivered an outstanding performance in the first half of the playoff game against the Detroit Lions, throwing for 242 yards and two touchdowns with a passer rating of 137.4. Daniels completed 14 of 21 passes and added 30 rushing yards. On quick throws, he was 11-of-15 for 150 yards and two touchdowns, achieving a passer rating of 144.4. He became the first rookie quarterback to throw multiple touchdown passes in two playoff games and the first quarterback since Patrick Mahomes in 2022 to post over 240 passing yards and two passing touchdowns in the first half of a postseason game. His combined 271 passing and rushing yards are the most in the first half of a playoff game since Tom Brady's 282 yards in Super Bowl 52. Daniels is also the fourth rookie quarterback to win 13 or more starts in a season, including playoffs, joining Ben Roethlisberger, Dak Prescott, and Joe Flacco. At halftime, the Commanders led with Daniels playing a pivotal role, demonstrating elite poise and positioning himself as a potential franchise quarterback.
