The deployment aims to prevent mass illegal migration from Haiti and Cuba. Additionally, the Coast Guard's press release referred to the Gulf of Mexico as the 'Gulf of America,' marking a notable change in terminology. The surge also extends to other maritime borders, including the U.S.-Mexico border in the Gulf of America, to support Customs and Border Protection efforts.
