VisitCoast Guard Rescues Two Oklahoma Divers Near Matagorda, Texas After 38 Hours at Sea

The U.S. Coast Guard successfully rescued two Oklahoma scuba divers, Nathan and Kim Maker, after a 36-hour search off the coast of Matagorda, Texas. The couple went missing while scuba diving during severe weather and were found approximately 15 miles offshore. The Coast Guard, including Sector Corpus Christi, searched over 1,600 miles and received word on Wednesday that the two were seen surfacing in adverse ocean conditions. The divers were drifting at sea for 38 hours before being rescued.
