VisitCoach of the Year Stephanie White Returns to Fever to Lead Clark and Boston
Nov 1, 2024, 04:26 PM
The Indiana Fever have hired Stephanie White as their new head coach, the team announced on Friday. White, a native of West Lebanon, Indiana, returns to the Fever after previously serving as their head coach during the 2015 and 2016 seasons, during which she led the team to the WNBA Finals in 2015. She also spent time as an assistant coach with the Fever from 2011 to 2014, including during their 2012 WNBA championship season. Most recently, White coached the Connecticut Sun for two seasons, where she was named the 2023 WNBA Coach of the Year and led the team to the semifinals each year. White takes over following the firing of Christie Sides and becomes the first of seven head-coaching changes expected this offseason in the WNBA. She will lead a Fever team featuring the WNBA's most promising young core, including Caitlin Clark, the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year, and Aliyah Boston, the 2023 Rookie of the Year. White's rich history in Indiana basketball includes being inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in 2022, winning a national championship as a player at Purdue University in 1999, and being named Indiana Miss Basketball in 1995. Her return is heralded as a homecoming for both White and the Fever, as she looks to guide the team into a new era.
